Attachment

Attachment is understood as the basic human need to develop secure relationships with other people who, in turn, are seen as important for the development of gifted and talented students.

Security of attachment is seen as being related to a positive development in childhood and to high ability. The ability to regulate one’s emotions that results from a secure attachment makes learning easier: The children will be more inquisitive, less anxious, and more strongly motivated to try other ways of finding a solution when they are not initially successful and will seek help on their own from attachment figures.
