Early service learning

“Early service learning” (in German: “Frühes Service Learning”), which could also be described as “learning and helping others”, is a method used in early education where children actively gain knowledge and then share their learning experiences and knowledge with other children or other people so that everyone profits from it.

Children who organize voluntary services/projects for the others experience self-efficacy in their actions and reinforce their self-concept. Education specialists support the children methodologically—both in the preparation and follow-up phases. Children or people taking part in the activity/project are provided with a specific course of learning and find out more about the child and their interests, strengths, abilities, and talents.
