Motivation
-
A person’s motivation refers to their willingness to act in order to achieve a desired end result. A highly motivated person is willing to tackle something thoroughly and persistently. There are various facets associated with motivation such as emotions, interests, or goal orientation.
Motivation is a personality trait which has a major influence on turning ability into achievement. Low motivation plays a correspondingly important role in the emergence of underachievement. Cognitive motivation (need for cognition), for example, is particularly significant in the context of giftedness.
